Science Outreach Service

The Musée du Fjord brings science to schools, community centers, and educational institutions to host workshops on the fjord, history, and science.

Upon arrival, our team is completely self-sufficient. We have our own equipment and can set up quickly and discreetly. Just designate the location and watch as, in record time, a tent, microscopes, puppets, preserved specimens, and, most importantly, our marine life handling tank appear!

All our presentations are customized to fit the available space.

Activities Offered

Touching the Stars - Handling Marine Specimens

Starfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and crabs are just a few examples of the live marine specimens that participants will be able to handle during this unique regional activity! Through a dynamic workshop led by our experienced mediators, your students will discover in a very hands-on way why the Saguenay Fjord is a unique ecosystem.

Secrets of the Flag - Handling Historical Artifacts

Why is the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean flag green, yellow, red, and gray? What do these colors tell us about our region's history? In class or with your family, dive into a captivating adventure where each color reveals a piece of the past! Through fascinating artifacts, immersive videos, and interactive discussions, become a historian for a day and follow in the footsteps of the first inhabitants, loggers, farmers, and aluminum workers. Handle ancient objects, solve puzzles, and explore the roots of our beautiful region! A fun and educational activity not to be missed!

Formula N - Building an Air-Powered Car

What do a cardboard car and a space rocket have in common? Air pressure powering vehicles that travel surprising distances!
Here, we simulate an assembly line, and participants must build the engine and body of their own air-powered car from scratch. Once the car is ready, it's time to get down to business and... race!

Activities

The following rates are for 60 minutes of activities for a group of approximately 30 participants. Depending on the composition of your groups, it is possible to divide each hour of activities into two 30-minute sessions for 15 participants.

One Activity - $250 plus taxes
Two Activities - $475 plus taxes
Three Activities -$675 plus taxes
Four Activities - $750 plus taxes

Discounts for successive events only apply to events taking place at the same location on the same day.

Travel

The first 100 km are free. After that, the cost is $0.60 per km traveled for the round trip.
